In this episode, I will show you how to play clips in three different ways: normal, loop, and bounce mode. It's crucial to know how these three modes work and how to change them, especially during playout. It's all about a small icon in the Control Panel, which changes the play mode. It only takes a single or double click!

Normal Mode
By default, the Control Panel is set to normal mode, indicated by a rightward arrow. Normal mode plays the clip from its current position to the end at normal speed. To play a clip in normal mode, load the clip and press the play button or use the keyboard shortcut 'P'
In this mode I often play out interviews, materials, speeches etc.
Loop mode
Loop play allows you to play a clip in a loop, starting again from the beginning once it reaches the end. This is useful for situations where you need a continuous playback of a specific clip.

If you want to change play mode from normal to loop mode just click on the icon with the rightward arrow. The icon will turn orange, and the arrow will become a loop arrow. Alternatively, you can use by default the keyboard shortcut "B".
Working in the control room at Warner Bros. I use loop mode to playout pictures, especially when they are short and the producer or technical director wants to show them several times. Sometimes it is useful to analyze a situation, for example, during a protest or a strange situation in parliament.
Bounce mode
Bounce play provides a dynamic playback mode where the clip plays forward and then reverses direction when it reaches the end or the beginning. This option is useful if you want to show a very specific fragment of an event in a very precise way.
If you want to change loop to bounce mode just click on the icon with the loop arrow. Icon switch into double-ended arrow. You can also use the by default keyboard shortcut 'B'.
WARNING
Don't forget to switch play mode in the Control Panel if you play different types of clips. This is especially important when you first play pictures in loop mode and then need to play other material or speeches. If you forget to switch, the looped clip might restart, and its video or audio could accidentally go On Air. This would be a significant mistake during a broadcast, so try to avoid it.
It's important to keep in mind that the shortcuts on each IP Director might not be exactly the same as the ones I provided, because they can be edited and changed by engineers or other users of your IP Director.
That's all for today.
