Behind the EuroBasket 2025 Replays: How EVS IPDirector Keywords Turn Pressure into Precision

EuroBasket 2025 - one of the biggest basketball events of the year. I had the honor of working there as an EVS operator. The workload was intense, and there was enormous pressure to deliver every moment in the best possible way. In this episode, I’ll show you how keywords in EVS IPDirector helped us during the production.
Keyword is a simple, powerful word you attach to a video clip. Think of it like a digital sticky note or a label you put on a box. Instead of scrolling for ages, you type the word and instantly the exact clip you need is right there. Quick, clean, and stress-free.
This becomes crucial when you're under pressure in a control room or an OB Van. During the recent European Basketball Championships, where I had the pleasure of working as an EVS operator, keywords were our secret weapon. The EVS IPDirector operator next to me was tagging every important successful shot by the players during the game.
Let’s say the producer suddenly asked: Show me Luka Doncic’s best plays from the first quarter. With keywords, we could build that playlist in just a few seconds. The next request might be for highlights of the top scorer from the second quarter. No problem. We’d simply type the player’s name into IPDirector and, boom, the playlist appeared almost instantly. No stress, no delays.
Let's concentrate on how to create a keyword
Click on the Keyword tab in the main toolbar.
From the pop-up menu, select Keyword List.
In the Keyword field, type your new word into the field
Click Add. Your keyword is saved in the database and ready to use.
Assign a keyword to a clip
Create a new clip, or edit an existing one.
In the Keyword field, type the keyword.
Press Enter, or just click Add.
To remove a keyword, press the X next to it.
In Database Explorer, simply type a keyword into the keyword search field. All clips tagged with it will appear right away. From there, it takes only seconds to playout a clip or build a playlist.
