Kartka — The Digital EVS Page for Real OB VAN Life

Have you ever been completely overwhelmed with EVS clips? Multiple openers. Multiple closers. Sponsors. Slates. Promos. Different playouts. Important clips everywhere. And after a few hours of broadcast, nobody remembers where everything is. We all know the classic solution. A piece of paper.

Kartka — The Digital EVS Page for Real OB VAN Life

Page number. Bank number. F1, F2, F3… Clip name. Small note. Maybe another note. Maybe another paper. Maybe the producer has one version. Maybe the EVS operator has another version. It works. But only until it doesn’t. Of course, we have VGA clip screens. Of course, we have LSM-VIA applications on newer EVS systems. But in real OB VAN life, there is not always space for another monitor. Sometimes you need to switch KVM. Sometimes it is uncomfortable. Sometimes there is no monitor. Sometimes there is only pressure, intercom noise and people asking:

“Where is the opener?” “Which bank?” “Which page?” “Who has the latest version?”

Kartka — The Digital EVS Page for Real OB VAN Life

So we built something simple.

Kartka.

Why Kartka?

Because in Polish, “kartka” means a piece of paper / page.

And here in Warsaw, we love that name.

Kartka is a digital EVS page for EVS operators, replay producers and production teams.

No more paper mess in the OB VAN. No more switching KVM just to check clips. No more throwing notes between producer and EVS operator. No more wondering who has the latest version.

You can use Kartka on your MacBook.

You can create EVS pages and banks. You can write down clip names. You can organize openers, closers, sponsorship items, slates and playlists. You can share the page with other EVS operators or producers.

And yes, it is live.

If you write something, the producer sees it instantly. If the producer names a clip, you see it instantly. If someone adds 111A as “opener”, everybody sees it right away.

EVS operator and producer can finally work on the same clip page together.

Less shouting. Less paper. Less KVM switching. Less mess.

More control.

This is a small but very practical tool created by University of Television for real EVS work in real productions.

Right now, Kartka is released only for macOS as a direct download from the University of Television website.

This is an official University of Television application. We are registered Apple developers, and the macOS version of Kartka is notarized by Apple for the Mac environment.

It means this is a legitimate Mac application, prepared properly for modern macOS systems and direct installation outside the App Store.

The iPhone version is coming soon to the App Store after testing.

Kartka is available right now as a 14-day beta test version.

Please remember: this is still a beta version. The first beta release. We are still testing it. It is not the final version yet.

We are making Kartka available for testing with a symbolic price of 3 euros per application.

Nothing crazy.

Just a small “thank you” from you guys, which helps us grow University of Television, create more applications and maybe buy one coffee while programming the next update.

After buying and downloading the application, each user will need a proper license generated manually by University of Television.

To receive your 14-day test license, please send an email to:

Please write this in the email subject:

Kartka app license

You will receive your license as soon as possible.

Licenses are generated manually, so please give us a little bit of time to send them to each one of you directly.

Also, from tomorrow we will be in Sweden and then in Germany for a big TV production, so we may not be available 24 hours a day.

The application will deactivate after two weeks.

And one more thing.

The number of beta test licenses we will distribute is limited.

A bit like a Porsche Exclusive thing.

Not because we want to make life difficult.

Because this is beta, and we want to work properly with the first group of users, listen to real feedback and improve the final version step by step.

So take your spot right now.

Grab it, check it, test it in real EVS life and let us know what you think.

The most constructive feedback, which helps us create an even better final version of Kartka, will receive a lifetime version of the application with all future updates included.

Later on, Kartka will become a fully paid application.
