What is EVS in the replay world?

We talk about EVS replay all the time. But what does EVS actually stand for? And what do we do as replay operators?

This short video explains the name, the workflow and the part that matters most: telling the story.

EVS originally stood for Écriture Vidéo Simulation. Thank you to Pallieter De Landtsheer from EVS for explaining the historical name in our LinkedIn discussion. LSM means Live Slow Motion.

Camera feeds are recorded on a server. We find the moment, choose the angle and speed, and prepare the replay for the director to take to air. An action, a reaction or a small detail can help the audience understand what just happened and feel why it matters.

Replay is about much more than pushing buttons. We help tell the story.
