If you see a little “P” on your EVS Multicam screen, watch out — Post-Roll is enabled.
It’s one of those tiny indicators that can easily go unnoticed, especially when you jump onto an EVS that somebody else was operating before you.

With Post-Roll enabled, when you reach the Short OUT of your clip, EVS can continue playing beyond the OUT point for the configured Post-Roll duration instead of stopping exactly where you expect.
You can enable or disable it from MENU → PostRoll.

And yes — I can already see the !TC in the picture as well. That’s a different story: it indicates a timecode problem/discontinuity, where EVS has detected an issue with the incoming timecode reference. Definitely something worth checking with engineering.
So this screenshot actually gives us two little EVS lessons at once:
P = Post-Roll enabled
!TC = watch your timecode
Small indicators on the screen, but both can have a very real effect on your workflow.
And after almost 20 years working with replay systems, I still occasionally look at an EVS screen and think: “Yo, wait… what was that?”
That’s one of the reasons I love this profession. There is always something new to learn.
