Merge Playlists in EVS IPDirector – Easy Peasy!
In this episode, I’ll show you how to easily merge playlists in EVS IPDirector. It’s far simpler than in the EVS LSM and EVS LSM VIA, where you need to switch between remote and VGA or use the LSM VIA Viewer. Every EVS operator, especially those in sports or news, needs to know how important merging playlists is.
Imagine you’re under pressure in a control room. You’ve just built one playlist for accident footage and another for witness statements. Originally, the plan was to playout them separately. But one minute before air, the producer changes their mind: “Connect these two playlists into one sequence.” In EVS LSM or EVS VIA, that takes time. In IPDirector, it’s a simple drag-and-drop and that’s it. The playlists are merged instantly. Easy peasy.
How to Merge Playlists in IPDirector
Open the Playlist Panel.
Find your playlists in the Database Explorer’s Playlists view.
Select and drag Playlist One and Playlist Two from the Database Explorer in the “Playlist” section.
Drop them into the new Playlist in Playlist Panel box.
Done! Both playlists are now combined into a single playlist element and exist as a new Playlist.

You can merge as many playlists as you like using this same method. With these few steps, you’ll be able to stitch together multiple playlists into one sequence, ensuring smooth transitions and rapid rundown updates.
That’s all for today, see you next Thursday!
