“University of Television Broadcast Training: From the Heart of the Desert to the Heart of Broadcast”

At the University of Television, our broadcast training journey took a memorable step forward in extraordinary circumstances — in the heart of the desert, helping local EVS operators take their first steps into live TV production. This story highlights our commitment to real-world education and broadcast excellence. Thanks to the University of Television broadcast training local EVS operators gained their first real-world experience.

One of the best experiences of my life was working in Oman, where I had the honor of serving as an official EVS Trainer for operational training, both in Salalah and Muscat.

I was hired to lead the operational integration during a historic moment — the first official premiere of EVS systems at Oman TV, the national public broadcaster. It was an incredible opportunity: bringing state-of-the-art replay and live production technology into a new market, and helping teams to take their very first steps into the future of broadcast.

But the story doesn’t stop there.

While I was delivering the official training, I received an unofficial, unpaid request from the production management:

“Can you help us cover an important event — the opening of a new police headquarters in the south of Oman? We have no one trained on EVS yet, but the event is tomorrow. Can you prepare our operators on-site?”

There was no obligation. No contract. No extra pay.

Just a simple choice: say yes — and share what I know.

The conditions?

  • Middle of the desert.

  • 5:00 a.m. call time.

  • Two hours to teach operators who had never seen EVS before.

  • No guarantees. No rehearsals. Only the real event ahead.

I didn’t hesitate.

This is what it means to love what you do.

This is what it means to believe in the power of knowledge-sharing.

So there we were — at sunrise, surrounded by sand and silence, with two young operators eager to learn. Two hours later, they conducted their very first live event highlights — something that would have seemed impossible just hours before.

The photo you see captures that moment:

Me, and two brand-new EVS operators, who today are experienced professionals — and it all started there, in the desert, under the first light of the Omani sun.

This experience taught me something powerful:

Sharing knowledge isn’t just a responsibility — it’s a passion. It’s a way of creating new futures.

And that’s exactly why we founded the University of Television.

Today, I am proud to announce that the official EVS trainings of the University of Television have just started.

We have launched our first Video On Demand (VOD) course, with more exciting programs coming soon.

If you want to master the craft, if you want to be ready when the moment comes — we are here to prepare you.

Because when the lights come up and the event begins, there’s no second chance. You need to be ready.

Just like we were, in Oman.
