“SimplyLive: Exploring New Live Production Workflows Alongside EVS”

I’m in the middle of setting up the Superfeed for the EuroBasket Finals, and it really hit me how valuable it is to have a clear view of every camera angle and input on a single multiviewer.
You can’t imagine how game-changing it is to have all the feeds from different servers right there in front of you. With EVS, though, I’m stuck juggling quads and separate multiviewers, or only seeing the cameras connected to my own server for preview — and then having to go back through everything I’ve already watched.
Right now, with around 30+ cameras in the network, it would be incredible to have them all on one big screen at once — local cameras and cameras from other servers in the network.
But I can’t do that because of limitations — the EVS multiviewer only supports a local view. I really wish I had the SimplyLive layout, because it would make creating the Superfeed so much easier. I could just see all the cameras and review everything in one place — local cameras and cameras from other servers in the network.
Now, what’s really interesting is that SimplyLive offers something unique: the ability to create multiple layouts on a single server and switch between them on the fly.
Imagine this: if you only need to focus on three or four big camera inputs, you can do that with just one layout. But if you need to monitor, for example, 28 cameras across the network, you can mix local cameras with cameras from other servers, all within the same multiviewer. It’s so convenient and efficient — especially for big productions.

As an EVS Superfeed operator, I have to monitor around 40 cameras for the FIBA EuroBasket. If I could see all of them directly on my server, without having to rely on external multiviewers and quads, it would make my job far easier and more efficient.
Here’s the thing: SimplyLive is not a direct competitor to EVS — at least not in the traditional EVS market segment. In my opinion, their biggest mistake would be to start copying EVS and targeting the exact same tier of productions.
SimplyLive shines in a different space — live podcasting, eSports, digital broadcasts, and mid-tier productions. And in those areas, it fits perfectly. It’s flexible, powerful, and incredibly well-designed for its target audience.
It really makes you think about what’s possible when tools are built for different needs instead of trying to be the same thing.
