Want to start a clip or playlist right on time without pressing the play button? EVS IPDirector can do that for you. In this episode, I’ll show you how to set up clips or playlists to play automatically at the exact time you choose.. No button pushing, no stress. Let’s jump in and see how it works!

Every single day at work, I'm working on the biggest and most important news program. It's on a super tight schedule, like, every single segment has an exact time slot. Seriously, in that case every second counts, and the pressure is just insane. My part in all this is to playout the Intro and the Headline package. That's the first thing people see on TV, and it has to start precisely at 8 PM. There's no place for error, misclick or delays. If anything goes wrong, it disrupts the entire live program.
In this program, EVS IPDirector plays a significant role. It features a crucial and incredibly helpful tool: "Start on Time" This function means that after properly setting start time, the Intro and Headline package will start automatically and precisely at 8 PM, without clicking the play button in EVS IPDirector. That's the magic.

How to set up “Start on time”
In the Playlist Panel select clips and right-click on that you want to set Start on time mode.
In the Playlist menu that appears select the “Define Start Mode” option. The "Define Still/Start Mode" window will appear.
In the Start mode box tick the checkbox labeled “Start On Time”.
Next define the precise time for playout - day and exact hour when the playout should begin.
Tick box “start only if element is loaded on the channel (start on time)”
Click OK to apply the settings.
A clock icon along with the defined time will be displayed in the "Still/Start Mode" column for that element in the Playlist Panel.
The EVS IPDirector will automatically play a playlist or clip at the exact set time.

Warning: Always remember to cue your playlist or clip in the playlist panel. If you don't do this, the clip or playlist will not start automatically.
That's all for today!
