Mastering Database Explorer: A Key Tool in EVS IPDirector for Replay Operators

Working as an EVS replay operator, crucial skills include organizing work, quick reactions, and the ability to adapt and recover from stressful situations. During productions in the control room or in the OB Van work is very dynamic. EVS operators often need to quickly change the order of playing clips, find materials quickly, or organize clips or playlists.

In EVS IPDirector, one of the most useful tools is  Database Explorer.

Database Explorer has multiple functions to find, manage materials and clips. It's very easy because everything is visible on the screen within the EVS IPDirector application.

Firstly, an EVS operator can easily find clips using the search box. The search box is similar to using an internet browser like Google. You can find a clip by typing the full name or just part of the name. EVS IPDirector also will filter the clips based on that name. EVS operators can also filter clips, for example, by keyword, creation date, and more.

Secondly, managing clips and materials. In the EVS IPDirector Database Explorer, you can create folders, similar to how folders work in Windows. In EVS IPDirector, these folders are called Bins. In Bins, you can store clips or materials that are most important. EVS operators can create multiple bins and rename them. This is very useful when managing many different productions, as it allows for quick preparation and you don't waste time searching for clips.

The database explorer is one of the most important and fundamental tools in the EVS IPDirector system. Without it, EVS operators are unable to work effectively. Easy and intuitive operation greatly simplifies work and saves time, which can be especially important during television production.
