From Broadcast Trucks to Backstage Legends: Why I Love My Job

One day it’s Mel Gibson holding an award on stage, the next it’s Snoop Dogg lighting up a Bud Light Music Fest set. Then, in the heat of the GT paddock, I’m shaking hands with Valentino Rossi right after the race. That’s not a dream — that’s just another week on the job.

Working in live broadcast means you’re not just close to the action — you’re part of it. Behind every frame, every replay, every show moment… there’s a human story. And some of them are unforgettable.
Like the time I was editing a three-day montage on EVS IPedit with Shakira — one of the most humble, professional people I’ve ever worked with. Or that hilarious moment in the elevator at the Miami Heat Stadium, when DJ Khaled asked what I do, and I replied, genuinely:
“And who are you?”
The most well-paid DJ in the U.S. just smiled and said:
“I’m just some DJ.”
He walked out. I’ll never forget that grin. And only after a second, it hit me:
That was DJ Khaled.
This industry gives back if you give yourself fully. Long days, high pressure, yes — but the stories, the people, the backstage moments? Worth every second.

So here’s to the artists, athletes, actors — and all the operators, engineers, editors, and producers behind the scenes.
I love my job.
What’s your story?
