Today we’ll look at the ADD CUT function in EVS LSM-VIA.
So, what is ADD CUT?
It’s basically a split. You can split a clip into two halves, or create several chunks from the same element.
Why would you use it?
Think of a football game: a player speeds up to the ball and then takes a shot. When you’re building highlights and want to emphasize the shooting moment in your playlist, ADD CUT comes in handy.
Here’s an example:
You cut the clip at the moment the player’s foot contacts the ball.
Then you scroll forward to the moment when the shot is executed and the ball speeds up. You add another cut here.
Now the original clip is divided into three parts. You take the middle one with the shot and slow it down. The rest plays at normal 100% speed.
That’s how you can achieve the kind of smooth slow-motion shots you see every day in top football leagues and premium productions.
How to do it step by step:
Add a clip to your playlist. At first, you only have one element.

Scroll to the position where you want to add the first cut.

Use the ADD CUT function (D key) on the LSM-VIA remote.

Scroll to the next position and add another cut.

After the first split, you’ll see two clips from the original. Adding the second cut divides it into three.

Now you have three clips from the same recording. Slow down the second one (the middle part) to highlight the shot.

When you play it out, you’ll have a clean, professional slow-motion effect right on the key action.
