In today’s episode, I’ll show you how to successfully use crucial functions in the playlist
during playback in EVS IP Director. Whether you’re an experienced EVS operator or just
starting out, mastering these tools is essential for smooth playlist management, especially ina TV news environment.

In EVS IP Director, managing playlists is very easy but it requires precision, especially when
it has a lot of clips. Knowing how to make changes during the playback playlist is crucial.
These adjustments help avoid mistakes during broadcast and ensure seamless operations.
For example, during a special program, I must quickly create pictures and add several clips
to the playlist. However, sometimes during playback, I notice that CLIP no. 3 is wrong and
shouldn’t be aired. In such situations, the Playlist Panel offers several options to correct
mistakes during the playback playlist.
DELETE
The simplest solution is to delete the problematic clip. Just select the incorrect clip with a
single click and press the Delete key on your keyboard. Confirm it by clicking Yes key or
ENTER key on keyboard.. Wrong clip disappears and next one will cue.
Warning: Be sure to click only once! A double-click will immediately reload the clip, which
could disrupt your workflow.
DRAG AND DROP
Another feature is the ability to manually change the position of the wrong clip in the playlist. Simply select the problematic clip and drag and drop it to a new position. For instance, you can move it above an already-played clip to remove it from the active sequence.
SKIP
The SKIP function is incredibly useful when you notice an error just as a clip is about to
play. To skip the wrong clip just click the SKIP key. This will automatically avoid playing the
wrong clip and cued the next one in the playlist.
GO TO
The Go To function allows you to skip not just one but multiple clips in the playlist. It enables you to jump directly to a specific clip, which will then begin playback immediately. To do it just select a clip that you want to go to and click Go To key. This is particularly useful when you need to make quick changes.
SUMMARY
As you can see, managing playlists in IP Director is simple and intuitive. However, it’s
important to remember that even small mistakes, like a misclick, can lead to significant
errors during a live broadcast. If you’re new to these functions, I recommend practicing in a
non-live environment first. Once you’re confident, you can apply these skills during actual
broadcasts.
