Mastering the Control Panel in EVS IPDirector: Lock EVS to avoid errors

An EVS operator is not a robot—mistakes happen, especially in live broadcasting. However, some of the most irrational and frustrating errors occur due to accidental actions.
It may sound funny or unlikely, but I’ve experienced this firsthand. During a live program, while playing a playlist, a colleague sitting next to me suddenly stood up, shaking the table and the cabinet above us. Unfortunately, something fell from the cabinet, landed right on my controller, and stopped the playlist during broadcast. If I had locked the EVS remote controller, nothing would have happened!
To lock the Control Panel or Playlist Panel in EVS IPDirector, simply click the padlock icon with the mouse. Alternatively, use the default keyboard shortcut CTRL + L. This feature prevents accidental errors during playback, even if you mistakenly click something or reload a clip.
Locking is especially useful when working with multiple output channels. For example, while material is playing on the first output channel, you can safely prepare other content on the second and third output channels. Knowing that an accidental action such as clicking NEXT, Recue, E/E key or reload a clip won’t disrupt the broadcast.
To unlock the Control Panel or Playlist Panel, just click the padlock icon again or press CTRL + L.
