In a TV news environment, the ability to playout a signal with a delay is crucial. In this
episode, I’ll show you how to do it easily and smoothly in the Control Panel.

Every day, a news station receives a lot of live feeds from various events, such as press
conferences or on-location reports. Often, some of these events begin during a commercial
break, which cannot be interrupted. In such cases, the producer asks the EVS IP Director
operator to delay the signal and play it with a delay. Believe me, I do it every day.
There are two ways to delay a signal
The first method is using the stop and play keys. Select the moment from which you want to
start the delay and press the stop key. To playout the delayed signal, simply press the play
key. The yellow timecode in the Control Panel shows the delay, for example, 30 seconds.
The second method allows you to set a precise delay time. In the Control Panel, enter the
exact delay time in the yellow timecode field, such as 20 seconds, 1 minute, or 30 minutes.
Confirm by pressing Enter key. The delay will be exactly that.
Now you know how to easily and smoothly delay a signal using the EVS IP Director Control
Panel.
That's all for today.
