Today in my EVS IPDirector series I'm going to show you how to significantly improve and simplify your playout management, using the Playlist Panel. It's an incredibly useful tool if you have multiple clips to playout.

In my daily work at a TV news station, I'm responsible for playing out multiple clips for every program. Sometimes this can amount to around 50 or more clips, and they all must be played in the correct order. With broadcast pressure and such a high volume of programs and clips, it's easy to lose track and make mistakes. The Playlist Panel in EVS IPDirector becomes incredibly helpful in this situation. In those tools you can easily build and organize the correct sequence of clips for playout.
In EVS IPDirector's Playlist Panel, you can control how your clips playout: automatically or manually.

In automatic mode clips in the playlist are linked and start playing immediately after the previous one ends. - It's perfect to play for example highlights reels.
In manually mode playout pauses at the end of a selected clip. The next clip will not start until you manually cued and played. - it’s perfect to playout clips separately like material, interviews.
By default EVS IPDirector in Playlist Panel is set to Automatically mode, If you want to change it to manual you have to:

In the Playlist Panel select clips and Right-click on that you want to change start mode.
From the menu that appears, select “Define Start Mode”. Define Still/Start menu mode will appear.
In the “Still mode box” select option “stop on the last frame of the previous clip”. In the “Start mode box” select “Manually” options and click OK.
Those clips will now pause the playlist once it finishes playing.
Now the playout clip in the playlist will pause at the end and it won’t move on to the next one until you manually cue it and start it.
You can also mix two modes in the same playlist! Just select clips in your playlist and change it in “Define Start/Still mode” menu.
