FLATTEN - this is our keyword in this episode. I'll explain what it means in EVS IPDirector and how to do it easily and smoothly. Believe me, it simplifies the workflow using it in EVS IPDirector.

First, let's explain what 'Flatten' means in the EVS IPDirector. When you flatten a playlist in EVS IPDirector, it merges all clips and transitions within that playlist into a single, complete file. This simplifies management by allowing you to quickly move, copy, or export it for editing as one clip.

How to Flatten a Playlist in EVS IPDirector
Before flattening a playlist, ensure that its content is correct, as you won't be able to change it quickly afterward.
In Database Explorer select the playlist you want to flatten.
Right-click on the selected playlist.
In the context menu, find and click the option labeled "Flatten to XT."
Choose a destination server and page where the flattened clip will be saved.
Your playlist will be merged into a single clip, which you can locate in the Database Explorer Clip Grid.
By following these steps, you'll successfully flatten a playlist in EVS IPDirector, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
WARNING: Keep in mind that once you flatten a playlist and load it as a clip, you will no longer be able to use the NEXT, SKIP, and Goto functions, because your playlist is now a single merged file.
That's all for today.
