News television requires technologies that ensure uninterrupted functionality and allow quick reactions to unexpected events. The EVS IP Director system combines reliability and functionality. Due to its extensive features, it plays a key role in creating news programs.

IP Director offers a substantial change to the EVS ecosystem. Why? Because it uses a Windows interface, making working with clips super easy and natural. Unlike the EVS LSM, where you have to press buttons several times to make something appear or work, EVS LSM also requires you to remember the correct sequence of clicks each time. In IP Director (or IPD, as we call it), you just see everything. It’s natural and... easy.
Below are the basic functions of EVS IP Director that are used in news broadcasting.
1. Reliability
News television stations around the world produce signals continuously. Therefore, one of the most important features is reliability, ensuring the ability to play out clips or materials 24 hours a day. A properly maintained EVS server and IP Director system guarantee almost complete reliability during news production.
2. Play-out System
IP Director provides easy access for playing and managing clips, materials, and playlists. It allows fast searching of clips/materials, proper organization, editing, and play-out functions. A crucial feature of this system is the ability to edit during play-out. For example, changing the order of clips in the playlist or replacing the next material during playback. Depending on the configuration, EVS IP Director allows the play-out of one or several clips/materials at the same time.

3. Recording and Fast Editing
IP Director enables the recording of multiple signals simultaneously. Additionally, it allows for the immediate trimming of a specific segment of the signal recorded just moments ago or editing materials that were sent with an error.
4. Delay Function
The delay function in EVS IP Director is designed to create and manage delayed broadcasts. For example, a parliamentary conference began at 11:55, but at that moment, a commercial block was being aired. Thanks to the EVS IP Director, the conference can be shown from the beginning at 12:00, with a 5-minute delay. Additionally, EVS IP Director can delay signals from multiple inputs simultaneously, ensuring synchronization across all of them.
5. Export and Import Clips and Playlists
IP Director can be connected/integrated with the newsroom's post-production system. It allows for the quick export of clips and playlists, as well as the import of materials from post-production to EVS IP Director.

6. Managing in the EVS network
The EVS IP Director is a highly valuable tool when integrated into a network with other EVS servers managed by the LSM Remote. IP Director has access to all clips and playlists on servers connected to the network. Using IP Director, it is easy to search, edit, copy, and move clips and playlists from one server to another. It also allows detailed naming and tagging of clips, which simplifies searching and selection.
7. INTERFACE IS THE KEY
Instead of remembering the functions of EVS LSM, you have the standard Windows interface - often Windows 10 - which everyone understands. This makes getting into IP Director easier, more natural, and logical for the new ones or those without prior EVS knowledge. Almost everyone knows how to use Windows. If you know that, you’ll understand the IP Director. Isn’t that super easy?
SUMMARY
Due to its exceptional reliability and functionality, IP Director plays a crucial role in broadcasting news television. Thanks to the application, this device excels in quickly searching for clips and playlists - locating clips throughout the network of EVS servers. Over the years, the system has been highly valued by EVS operators and is widely used in various productions across the globe.
